You are in charge of your own life.
Kinda. But you always have choices.
Life isn’t always going to be easy.
You came here to grow, not just party on, be fabulous, and cruise through life in comfort and without consequence.
You came here with some baggage.
We all did, and none of it is pretty.
In fact, Karma is a bitch.
We are here to grow.
We are going to get hurt.
That’s how we learn.
Lessons in life are going to suck and we are going to feel like we are being punished.
Each of us will question why we have been so hurt and betrayed.
Every one of us has sulked and hoped that someone, if not everyone, would understand if not feel our pain.
Unfortunately but truthfully, as I was recently reminded by a very dear friend, that nobody but you is ever going to truly know or feel your story.
Scott’s words: You will likely never get the validation or acknowledgement that any of us seek for the shit we’ve been through.
Just wow.
This reality hit home for me.
The truth of this statement was exactly what I needed to hear.
Nobody but me would ever understand or care as deeply as I do about what I have been through.
Therefore, it is impossible to expect others to feel the same pain and create the same boundaries as I do.
My story is my own to own. I get that. But it still hurts to know that others I know are indifferent to my pain.
I knew when I heard his words that I was receiving an important life lesson.
As another dear friend Erin said over a bowl of ramen, The universe is indifferent. (It has lessons to dole out, not compassion.)
I have gathered that people can be indifferent too, sadly.
Maybe a lesson in this lifetime is to care about more than yourself.
At the very least, we all need to make time to listen to and understand those we care about.
Everyone has a story. If you can, react with empathetic love and support.
Everyone wants to be heard and understood.
If you really care about someone, don’t be indifferent.
