You Say You Love Them But Do You Like Them?

You Say You Love Them But Do You Like Them?

It’s hot and heavy.

You don’t know up from down.

Emotions are running high.

Ecstasy and passion abounds.

You are in love.

Exhale.

Let’s take a moment to detach from the excitement and reflect on what it means to be in a loving relationship.

I know it sounds silly but think about this seriously – Do you LIKE them?

Are they someone you would want to be around with no intimacy?

Would you have them as part of your trusted inner circle of friends?

Do your values align?

Can they share and enjoy experiences that are special to you?

Do you trust this person with your deepest needs, thoughts, feelings and experiences?

Do they behave in ways that support you?

Can you disagree without conflict?

This is real talk.

If you are you hoping that they will change somehow or if you are on guard, in any way, this is not your person.

This is not love.

To truly love someone is to truly like who they are as a human.

A loving relationship feels safe, supportive, and calm.

The health of your body, mind, and soul are affected by the health of your relationships.

You deserve the healing power of being with someone you like.
